There are many kinds of problems that can arise in your furry friend’s joints, bones and muscles. They may be born with some of them, while other conditions arise with age or injuries. For example, hip dysplasia is a common problem that many dogs are born with. It causes their hip joints to not work properly, making them grind aggressively with each other, instead of doing so smoothly. Over time, this causes the hips to deteriorate. Although hip dysplasia is more common in larger dog breeds, it can actually affect dogs of any size. As pets get older, they can also develop arthritis, which affects pets of all species and breeds. Torn ligaments from accidents can also have long-lasting effects on your pet’s mobility.
The warning signs of orthopedic problems can often overlap. They can also be symptoms of other health conditions. For this reason, one of the best things that you can do is to contact our team right away if you notice anything unusual about your pet’s appearance or behaviour. Some of the symptoms that you should watch out for are weight gain, stiffness, decreased appetite, irregular stance or gait, reluctance to move, swollen joints and irritability.
Without a thorough and one-on-one consultation, it is quite difficult to provide an estimate of the cost of services. Several factors can affect the cost of orthopedic surgery (as well as other orthopedic treatments and rehab). We ask that you kindly call us and schedule an appointment for the most accurate rate estimate.
